《2021年発売》【SUNMAI×COEDO】『喜雨 -Kiu-』
This is the second collaboration with SUNMAI, a popular craft brewery in Taiwan.
In the first phase in 2019, SUNMAI brewed SUNMAI's Sansho Kam Kwat Ale "Golden Luck Fortune" and released it on a limited basis to coincide with the Taiwanese Lunar New Year.
For this second round, the SUNMAI brewers were scheduled to visit Japan as an answer brew, but due to the COVID-19 disaster, the trip was postponed. While travel restrictions continued due to the Corona disaster, we held many meetings remotely and completed "Kiu-Kiu" based on our mutual knowledge and ideas.
The ingredients used for "Kiu-Kiu" are "Ma Gao," which has been used since ancient times by the Tayal, a mountain tribe in Taiwan, and "White Koji," which is often used to make shochu in Japan. By applying these ingredients to beer, the citrus and lemongrass-like aromas of ma gao and the citric acidity of white yeast give the beer a refreshing sourness, and the low alcohol content makes it the perfect ale for dry throats in the hot summer. It is like the seasonal word "Kiu," which means a blessed rain that finally falls on a drought-stricken land after a long period of sunshine. Enjoy this herb and spice ale born from the unique cultures of Taiwan and Japan.

SUNMAI is Taiwan's leading craft brewery, founded in 2004 under the name "Golden Sun Mai". Starting with beers made from traditional German-style brewing crafts, the brewery brews many beers using Taiwan's unique ingredients. The company's Honey Lager, made with precious longan honey that can only be harvested for 28 days a year, won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup and made the name of SUNMAI known around the world.
