Matsuri Ale" was specially brewed to support and pray for the revival of the Kawagoe Festival, which was canceled due to the spread of a new type of coronavirus.
In addition to its bright pale golden color, clean bitterness, and soft aroma of traditional European noble hops, the use of rice produced in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, gives it a refreshing and well-balanced finish.
The label uses data from the poster of the 1992 Kawagoe Festival, the only illustrated version of the Kawagoe Festival poster from past generations.

Matsuri Ale" as part of the COEDO Yell Project
In 2020, festivals across Japan were forced to be canceled due to restrictions on people's interaction with each other following the government's request following the spread of a new type of coronavirus. The local Kawagoe Festival, designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event, was also canceled, leaving many people feeling a sense of loss. We wondered if it would be possible to donate a portion of the proceeds to the next festival.
We decided to launch the "COEDO MATSURI YELL PROJECT" to support festivals that have been canceled throughout Japan, starting with the Kawagoe Festival. We will brew a special ale beer under the theme of local rice, which is one of the manifestations of the spirit of Japanese festivals, in order to send a YELL ale for the revival of festivals in the future.
This product will be "Matsuri Ale" (made with rice produced in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture) to send ale to the Kawagoe Festival.
We will donate 20 yen per bottle to the festival.
*It may take about one week from the time of order to ship.
Please note that the product may be temporarily out of stock due to shipping conditions. In such cases, please understand that you may have to wait until production is completed.
Matsuri Ale - On the release of Matsuri Ale
We never imagined that our lives and work would be so affected by the plague in modern Japan.
I am sure that many people are feeling a sense of stagnation, frustration, and loss under this "new normal" environment.
We wondered if there was anything that we, as a community-based craft brewery, could do to help in some small way.
I believe that beer has a magical power to connect people.
We hope that everyone will enjoy the beer with a smile on their faces.
We sincerely hope that this year's festival will be a success.
(Shigeharu Asagiri, President, Coed Brewery, Kyodo Shoji Co.)
▽About Kawagoe Festival
The Kawagoe Festival has been observed for over 300 years as an urban festival that conveys the Edo "Tenka Matsuri" to the present, and has developed with the addition of Kawagoe's unique characteristics.
The most impressive feature of the festival is the "Hikikkawase" at night, when several floats facing each other compete with each other in a musical performance, and festival goers wave lanterns high in the air and shout with delight.
In 2005, the festival was designated a nationally important intangible folk cultural property as "Kawagoe Hikawa Festival Float Event. The festival is held for two days on the third Saturday and Sunday of October every year.
